Knowing that business research cost time and money, professional business research can provide business leaders with the data necessary to direct immediate actions to remedy productivity problems or solve performance problems. Moreover, decision makers require dependable data in order to plan business, conduct daily and long-term operations, and forecast strategies. As an example, the organizational climate survey (OCS) is a survey used to identify problematic areas at my workplace. The survey is defined in guidance and procedures. It is also required annually and participation is voluntary. The results yield area of improvements for leaders to adjust their plans, policies, and management techniques to enable greater employee involvement and morale. Furthermore, feedback in the form of direct communication is an ideal way to determine if formal verbal or written processes help guide behavioral alignment within the organization (Hartman, 2004, p. 408). What a Manager Should Look for in Research Research should use a systematic approach to generate the empirical data, grounded in direct observation and general truth, needed for business leaders (Cooper Schindler, 2014, p. 15).
